Full Body & Group PortraitsI spend two to three hours with the clients discussing their requirements, composing the painting and undertaking a digital photo shoot. This can be done in one or two sessions. It includes decisions regarding clothing, setting and lighting.

During the shoot I view selected options with the clients on my laptop. Together we choose the best general composition. I then take a series of close-ups of faces, hands and other details, and again involve the clients in choosing the faces that best represent the personality of the sitter.

A life drawing session is optional.

Head & ShouldersHead and shoulders portraits can be painted from photographs supplied by the client. This might happen if the subject lives at a distance that makes travel prohibitively expensive; if the subject has died; if the client has a favorite photograph they would like turned into a painting.

If possible the photo should be digital and of a high resolution, It is possible to work from a photo that is old provided the features of the subject can be seen clearly.
