This series of paintings was commissioned by Hugh Glennister for his Freedom Library in Kyalami, South Africa.
I was fortunate enough to accompany Von Hayek and his wife to the Kruger National Park for three days in 1979. At 80 years of age he was excellent company and his brain was still formidable.
I also met Rose and Milton Friedman and was charmed by their warmth and vitality. Adam Smith's portrait is based on the only image of him made from life, a ceramic bas-relief, and Ludwig von Mises I translated from a black and white photograph to colour.
